Sparta Rotterdam rise to seventh as Mito and Lauritsen strike before the break | OneFootball

Sparta Rotterdam beat Volendam 2-0 at Het Kasteel on Saturday, climbing from ninth to seventh in the Eredivisie.

In the 14th minute, Shunsuke Mito finished from the centre of the box after Teo Quintero's pass.

Tobias Lauritsen glanced in a header (33.) from Vito van Crooy's cross following a corner to give the hosts daylight.

Kayne van Oevelen kept the visitors in contention with seven saves. Joel Drommel made two saves as the hosts managed the game.

After half time, Rick Kruys introduced Juninho Bacuna and Anthony Descotte, and Bacuna drew a smart stop from Drommel (52.).

There were brief treatment stoppages for Precious Ugwu before the second goal and for Ozan Can Kokcu early after the restart.

Sparta Rotterdam registered 16 attempts, with nine on target. Volendam recorded seven attempts, two on target.
