The talented 22-year-old is also said to be open to joining Man Utd, though they need one crucial thing to go their way first.

The Red Devils would supposedly need Champions League football in order to get a deal done for Branthwaite, according to a report from the Sun.

As things stand, United’s dire Premier League form means their only realistic hope of getting into the Champions League next season is by winning the Europa League.

That’s probably going to prove a bit of a tall order for MUFC, who are still finding their feet under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Jarrad Branthwaite transfer may no longer be needed at Manchester United anyway

In truth, while United may have needed a signing like Branthwaite in the recent past, it’s not clear if he makes sense as a priority for them now.

The England international is undoubtedly a fine talent who would do well to get a big move away from Everton soon, but Amorim already has plenty of other centre-backs in his squad at Old Trafford.

United signed both Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt last summer, and then Ayden Heaven in January, while they also still have the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire in their ranks.

It’s hard to see where Branthwaite would fit in in this United squad, so he should perhaps wait and see if other clubs come in for him.

There surely will be other suitors for a talent like Branthwaite, with the Sun also naming the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham as being keen on him.

Even Everton’s rivals Liverpool are mentioned, though it’s hard to imagine the Toffees would allow such an important player to join their Merseyside neighbours.

Ex-Red Jamie Carragher is a big fan of Branthwaite though, having previously described him as “special”, as quoted by the Mirror.
