Osmar Stabile, the Corinthians president, lodged a formal request on Thursday for Romeu Tuma Júnior, head of the club’s Deliberative Council, to be stood down over alleged interference in management. Gazeta Esportiva first reported the move.
Stabile alleges Tuma coerced him during a dinner at Parque São Jorge last Friday night, telling him to comply with his wishes or face consequences.
Tuma denies the accusations and says he will go to the police to have the matter clarified.
On receipt of the signed request, the club’s Ethics and Discipline Committee will open an internal inquiry into the episode.
Chaired by Leonardo Pantaleão, the Deliberative Council’s vice-president, the committee will hear those involved, review any evidence submitted and could recommend disciplinary measures including warnings or suspensions.
