Juan Nardoni equalised in the third minute of first half stoppage time, earning Grêmio a 1-1 draw at Chapecoense.
Earlier, Nardoni signalled intent in the 33rd minute, driving from outside the box as Chape sat off, only for his effort to be blocked.
He then read the second phase from a corner and arrived in the centre to finish on the stroke of half time, with Imortal rewarded for sustained pressure.
After the restart he combined down the right, feeding Tetê for a low attempt (52.). Later he drew contact and won free kicks to ease pressure in his own half (82.) and again late on (85.).
He completed 42 of 44 passes, including 20 in the final third, won possession four times and was fouled three times, providing the platform for Tricolor Gaúcho to control key phases.
Imortal sit seventh and host Vitória next. Verdão do Oeste are twelfth and welcome Corinthians.
