Ekitike was in fine form for Eintracht Frankfurt over the course of the recent season and his displays made sure that the loss of Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in the winter transfer window was hardly felt.

The Frankfurt-based club finished in a Champions League spot in the Bundesliga, but could now lose Ekitike just months after seeing Marmoush go.

He could cost up to €100m as Eintracht Frankfurt demand a big price, with three Premier League sides keen.

According to German broadcaster Sky Deutschland, Chelsea and Manchester Unitedwho recently got information on a deal – are in the race, while Liverpool believe they are well positioned.

Liverpool though need time to offload players first, with Darwin Nunez likely to be sold, and Ekitike ‘is aware’ of this fact.

How quickly Liverpool can raise cash through player sales remains to be seen, but Nunez is clearly on the chopping block.

Ekitike faced English opposition in the recent season when Eintracht Frankfurt met Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League.

He came close to moving to England earlier in his career when Newcastle United were chasing him, but decided to sign for Paris Saint-Germain.

Eintracht Frankfurt initially landed Ekitike from PSG on loan before then signing him on a permanent basis.

He struck 22 times in 48 outings for Eintracht Frankfurt over the course of last term, as well as chipping in with 12 assists.

At the age of just 22, Ekitike’s potential has excited Premier League sides and Liverpool, with an eye on life after Mohamed Salah in the coming years, look to be positioning themselves to take him to Anfield.
