Check out the key facts and figures from the Parisians' 3-1 victory over Rennes on Friday 27 September 2024, on Matchday 6 of Ligue 1.
With the clash with Arsenal on the horizon this Tuesday, the game against Rennes was brought forward to Friday evening. Paris were therefore the first of the top teams to play in Round 6, while Auxerre beat Brest in the curtain-raiser in Burgundy.
It was therefore a great opportunity to put pressure on the two chasing pack, who had the same number of points (13) in the standings before this Matchday. With the win over Rennes, Paris remain unbeaten after their first six games of the Ligue 1 season, for the third time in the last four seasons (1 defeat in 2023-24), which is as many times as in the previous six seasons.
The capital club has also won each of its last three home games in Ligue 1, one more than in its first eight in 2024 (2 - 5 draws, 1 defeat).
The Parisians have been firing on all cylinders since the start of the season. As well as Bradley Barcola finding the back of the net with a well-taken brace, the whole team have been on fire recently. PSG have scored at least 3 goals in 5 of their 6 Ligue 1 matches so far, 2 more than any other team in Europe's top 5 leagues since the start of the season.
With 20 goals scored in 6 league games, the average per game is 3.33, the best in Ligue 1. This is a good omen ahead of the clash with another high-scoring team, Arsenal, in London on Tuesday.
Lee scored a rare headed goal on Friday evening. The South Korean international scored his 1st headed goal in the 5 major European leagues (15 goals in total from 139 appearances). He has now been involved in 10 Ligue 1 goals for Paris (6 goals, 4 assists).
Barcola scored his second double in Ligue 1, following his brace against Montpellier at the Parc des Princes last August. The French international scored his 5th and 6th goals in L1 2024-25 (in 6 matches), 2 more than in the whole of last season (4 in 26 matches).
Finally, the unstoppable Ousmane Dembélé has provided 11 assists since the start of last season in Ligue 1, at least 2 more than any other player over that period. He has been decisive in 3 consecutive league games for the 2nd time in 32 matches for Paris (4 in November-December 2023).
