Aurelien Tchouameni may not dominate headlines at Real Madrid, but the numbers behind his performances tell a very different story.

In a squad filled with global superstars like Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, it is easy for Tchouameni’s influence to go unnoticed. 

He is not the player scoring decisive goals or producing highlight-reel moments, but he is often the one ensuring the team functions properly.

Simply put, when Tchouameni is absent, Real Madrid’s level drops significantly. 

As per the outlet, the team has played nine matches without him, managing just three wins, alongside three draws and two defeats, translating to a win rate of only 44%.

The contrast becomes even more striking when he is on the side.

Across 32 appearances with Tchouameni involved, Madrid have recorded 25 wins, five draws and just two losses.

That is a 78% win rate, which is a dramatic improvement that points directly to his importance in maintaining balance and control.

This is where his value truly lies.

A different player

Tchouameni is not tasked with dictating play in the same way as a traditional playmaker. 

Instead, his role revolves around structure, breaking up attacks, protecting the defence, and allowing more creative players the freedom to operate. 

It is a role that often goes unnoticed, but one that becomes obvious the moment he is missing.

Despite this, his long-term future has not always been completely secure.

Earlier in the season, there were suggestions that Madrid could consider offers for the midfielder, particularly given his strong market value and interest from several top clubs. 

However, the current campaign has forced a rethink, and the story has changed altogether.
