Nicolas Jackson’s future at FC Bayern remains open – but his advisor does not believe that his departure is a foregone conclusion. While the attacker is currently on duty with Senegal at the Africa Cup, his advisor Ali Barat has commented on his future plans
In an interview with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barat made it clear that a decision will not be made at this stage. „I think the season is still very young. Nico has the Africa Cup, he has a long season ahead of him with Bayern, he has the Champions League. So I think it’s still very early to answer this question,“ explained the advisor. Clarity will only be provided after the end of the season: „Nico and I will sit down together at the end of the season, look at all the options and then make a decision together.“
These statements are in line with the attitude of Bayern bosses, who want to closely monitor the 24-year-old’s development in the second half of the season before deciding on a permanent transfer. According to Romano, Chelsea’s asking price of €65 million is still considered unrealistic. From Munich’s point of view, a permanent deal is only an option if Jackson’s sporting performance improves significantly
In principle, those responsible are not dissatisfied with Jackson’s contribution so far. After initial difficulties, the Senegalese has started the season better and has impressed above all with his efficiency. Six goals in 18 appearances are solid, even if he was mostly only used as a wild card. Internally, however, Jackson is still seen more as a supplementary player behind Harry Kane – a crucial point when assessing his future

Added to this is the complicated situation with Chelsea FC. It was already clear at the time of the loan that a permanent transfer was only realistic under certain conditions. The originally agreed purchase obligation of 65 million euros is now off the table, as Jackson can no longer achieve the necessary number of star appearances. All that remains is an option. However, Chelsea are said to continue to insist on the high transfer fee and have so far shown no willingness to negotiate
The words of Jackson’s advisor therefore fit into the overall picture: everything is still open. Jackson is initially concentrating on the Africa Cup and the rest of the season with FC Bayern. Whether he will remain in Munich beyond the summer will only be decided later – depending on his performances and the attitude of those responsible in London.
