Stoke City have been buoyed by some positive news amid their ongoing injury crisis.

Manager Mark Robins said Gavin Bazunu, Junior Tchamdeu, Sam Gallagher, and Divin Mubama are all on their way back from injury.

“Things are looking a bit brighter,” he said. “Junior will be training on Monday, Sam Gallagher’s back in on Monday, Gavin Bazunu will be fit by Monday (and Divin Mubama). That’s significant progress.”

Bazunu has been out with a thigh injury since mid-January, Tchamdeu has been out with a knee injury since early January, Gallagher has been missing with a hamstring issue since early January and Mubama has been out with a leg issue since mid-January.

Since the injuries, and in large part because of them, Stoke have only managed one win since January 11.

They have fallen to 13th in the Championship and the prospect of facing Frank Lampard’s league leaders appears a daunting one.

“As a team at the top they’re obviously a good team, being successful in what they’re doing [have] got some good players, a depth of squad and they’ve got very few injuries,” Robins said ahead of the game.

“They’ve found a way of winning games, they play in a way that puts you under pressure. They’ll put the ball in behind without any concern, get the ball up front, get bodies in the box.”
