Jamil Siebert is reportedly on the radar of the Championship trio

Fortuna Düsseldorf defender Jamil Siebert is on the radar of Championship sides Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers and Watford ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, according to a new report.

23-year-old Siebert was born and raised in Düsseldorf, and he joined Fortuna's youth set-up at the age of eight in 2010. He worked his way through their academy sides to make his senior debut for the club in September 2020, aged just 18.

The six-foot-four-inch centre-back spent two separate spells out on loan with 3. Liga outfit Viktoria Koln as he began to emerge into professional football, but has been a regular for Fortuna in the second-tier over the last two seasons as they have tried and failed to return to the Bundesliga.

Siebert has played at international level for Germany's under-18, under-20 and under-21 sides, so is clearly highly-rated in his home country, but is yet to make a real breakthrough at the top level in his short career so far.

Championship trio Stoke, QPR and Watford all finished between 14th and 18th in the 2024/25 campaign, so it is clear that each team needs to bolster their respective defensive ranks to stand them in better stead for a top-half finish next term.

Sport Italia journalist Lorenzo Lepore has reported, via his X account, that the Potters, the Hoops and the Hornets are all interested in making a move for Siebert in the forthcoming summer transfer window.

He claims that the 23-year-old centre-back could be on the move in the coming months, and he may could fancy testing himself in England, with the 2. Bundesliga likely the most similar second division to the Championship in terms of both quality and intensity.

Siebert has been tracked by top clubs ahead of the summer - he may not want to leave Germany yet

Siebert began this campaign on the sidelines with a ruptured tendon, which ruled him out of the whole of pre-season, but he returned to action in November and has been a near ever-present as F95 have looked to achieve promotion to the top-flight.

He has played 20 times in the league so far, with two assists to his name, but Fortuna look set to miss out on a place in the promotion play-off spots with one game of their campaign left to play.

Their failure to go up looks set to leave them open for Siebert to depart, but Stoke, QPR and Watford could face challenges in signing the 23-year-old based on the clubs that have previously been linked with his services.

Sky Germany claimed in March that various Serie A clubs, such as Bologna and Torino, among others, had registered their interest in the centre-back ahead of the summer window.

Their report revealed that Siebert's current contract has a release clause of around €6 million, and also that he does not want to think about leaving the club right now due to a good relationship with the fans and manager.

It was also claimed that a decision on his future would not be made until after the season, but with Fortuna now unlikely to sneak into third spot, interested clubs will surely start to form a queue for his signature very soon.

Whether the likes of Stoke, QPR or Watford hold the financial capabilities or pulling power to sign a player like Siebert remains to be seen, but he looks to be on his way out of his boyhood club sooner rather than later, and may well prioritise playing time and development over potentially joining a top-flight side that would not give him as many chances to prove his talents.
