Valery has not long returned to action for his club, following a stint away with Tunisia in the African Cup of Nations. However, he is now set to depart Hillsborough in a post-window loan move.

According to reports from The Sheffield Star's Alex Miller, the 26-year-old will now link up with Swiss Premier League outfit BSC Young Boys, after an approach was accepted by Wednesday following the conclusion of the transfer window.

The Swiss transfer window remains open until February 16th, which allows Valery to make the move to the Bern-based side, in what is another bitter blow for Henrik Pedersen's side.

Things keep getting worse and worse for the Steel City club, and with a takeover seemingly still quite far away, they will be keen for this season to end sooner rather than later.

January was a torrid month for Sheffield Wednesday, with key departures such as Barry Bannan and Bailey Cadamarteri leaving their squad a lot weaker than the one they started the month with.

Another player who was the subject of interest from elsewhere was right-back Valery, who had interest from both Rangers and Wrexham, but would end up staying put at Hillsborough until the summer, or so we thought.

In a shock report from Miller, he revealed that the Owls had reluctantly accepted a loan bid from BSC Young Boys, which will see the Tunisian head to Bern ahead of this summer's World Cup.

The Swiss side will reportedly pay the defender's wages in full for the duration of the loan spell, which means that Sheffield Wednesday could potentially dip into the free agent market to find a replacement for Valery.

Whilst Valery's departure would've come as no surprise during the transfer window, the abrupt nature of his pending move to Switzerland has left fans rather stunned, with less than 24 hours to go until they play Swansea in the Championship.

Following the news of Valery's imminent departure, Wednesdayites took to X to voice their shock at the disappointing news, with many left wondering when the bad news will end.

One disappointed Wednesday couldn't quite believe the decision made by his club to loan him out.

Another was surprised that Valery remained at the club through January, given his international ambitions.

Another believed the club was sensible in their approach to loan out someone who didn't want to be there.

Another wasn't as pleased, as he raised questions over the fee that the Owls would receive from the move.
