Leeds United head to Bournemouth on Wednesday night eight points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, with a new Opta projection making a strong call on the Whites. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the model has updated the predicted final table and points.
Saturday’s 3-0 win at home to now already relegated Wolves left Leeds eight clear of third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs drew 2-2 with Brighton that evening as ex-Whites star Georginio Rutter netted a late equaliser.
Nottingham Forest boosted survival hopes on Sunday with a 4-1 home win over Burnley, moving within three of Daniel Farke’s 15th-placed side. On Monday, fourth-bottom West Ham drew 0-0 at Crystal Palace, six behind Leeds, three behind Forest and, crucially, two ahead of Tottenham.
Because of FA Cup semi-finals, Leeds play first in the next round. Victory would take them level on points with 14th-placed Newcastle United.
Opta’s latest table has Arsenal first on 81 points, three clear. Manchester City are second on 78, up from 77.
Aston Villa are third on 66, up from fourth and 65, with Manchester United fourth on 66, down from third. Liverpool are fifth on 63, up from 61.
Brighton are sixth on 56, up from ninth and 55.
