Sunderland’s agent-fee outlay rose fivefold after promotion, totalling £10,627,772 for February 2025 to February 2026, FA figures show. It remained among the Premier League’s smallest totals.
The release covers the two transfer windows since their Wembley promotion and includes both the significant summer overhaul and contract renewals agreed during the year.
They spent £2,170,045 in their final Championship season. Only Burnley, £7,357,902, and Everton, £9,990,374, paid less across the period.
Fellow promoted side Leeds United recorded £13,990,935. Bournemouth paid £20,883,523, Brighton £19,520,800, and Newcastle United just over £20 million.
Chelsea topped the division at £65,102,247, while the Premier League’s combined spend reached £460,300,308.
Sunderland completed 17 signings in the period and the totals also reflect fees linked to renewals for Trai Hume, Eliezer Mayenda, Luke O'Nien and Chris Rigg. The figures cover any transaction involving an agent registered with the FA.
