Sunderland confirm 26-man United States tour squad, Anthony Patterson included as Jocelin Ta Bi faces visa issue | OneFootball

Sunderland have named an initial 26-player squad for their pre-season tour of the United States, with Anthony Patterson travelling amid uncertainty over his future, and Jocelin Ta Bi currently unable to join after a visa rejection.

According to Sunderland Echo, Régis Le Bris’ side go to Nashville to face Liverpool at Geodis Park on July 25, then Leeds United at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey on July 30, before Wrexham at Subaru Park on August 2.

He missed the 5-1 win at York City, and interest from Championship clubs is yet to bring an agreement. Dan Ballard also travels, with Le Bris expecting him to return to full training and get first pre-season minutes in America.

Romaine Mundle is included after a precautionary absence at York. Timur Tutierov travels after signing a new contract and scoring once at the LNER Community Stadium.

Academy selections include Trey Ogunsuyi, Finn Geragusian, Tom Proctor, Felix Scott, plus Jaydon and Jenson Jones, Ben Kindon, Archie Lightfoot, Jack Whittaker and Charlie Dinsdale. Brian Brobbey, Nilson Angulo, Habib Diarra, Robin Roefs, Simon Adingra, Arthur Masuaku and Noah Sadiki join on July 26 after FIFA World Cup duty.

Granit Xhaka, Chemsdine Talbi, Omar Alderete and new signing Thomas Meunier will not travel, having gone deep at the tournament, and will join later in pre-season. Sunderland have appealed Ta Bi’s visa decision and remain hopeful he can join the tour in the coming days.
