Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil is closing in on a loan move to Ipswich Town.

The 24-year-old has played just four times for the Black Cats this season after helping them to promotion last season.

He is now set to undergo a medical with the Tractor Boys ahead of a loan deal until the end of the season.

Neil is out of contract with Sunderland at the end of the season and is expected to leave the club when his deal runs out.

It means he has likely played his last game for his boyhood club, where he has been since 2010.

Defender Artur Masuaku is also expected to leave the club and join French side RC Lens.

The DR Congo international is set to join the Ligue 1 side on loan until the end of the campaign having made only three Premier League appearances for the club since joining in the summer.
