Friday has brought claims regarding Jose Mourinho and Newcastle United.

The report from The Guardian claiming that after meeting Newcastle United Chairman Yasir al-Rumayyan ‘in a social capacity’ at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Jose Mourinho ‘has maintained the connection’ with Yasir al-Romayyan.

A little short on detail, as the ‘exclusive’ doesn’t explain in any way how this ‘connection’ has been maintained…

The Guardian also claims that Jose Mourinho has ‘reached out to intermediaries asking to be kept abreast of any developments at Newcastle’, though once again, details of how exactly this has been supposedly done, are missing.

What this ‘exclusive’ hopes to achieve, other than trying to unsettle things at Newcastle United, is unclear.

The ‘exclusive’ is credited to Sunderland fan Louise Taylor and Matt Hughes.

Any thoughts of Jose Mourinho ever managing Newcastle United now, must surely be seen as laughable.

He was a great manager in the past but his successes after leaving Porto were massively down to spending huge amounts of cash on players.

Jose Mourinho has been on a downward spiral for years and that is summed up by the fact that he is now managing in the weak Turkish domestic league.

Eddie Howe and Newcastle United have been heavily restricted when it comes to the ability to spend money in recent transfer windows and indeed, in the summer, NUFC made a profit on their summer transfer window trading.

‘José Mourinho is targeting the Newcastle job if Eddie Howe leaves St James’ Park. The Fenerbahce head coach has unfinished business in the Premier League and has identified Newcastle as his best chance of another job in England, having managed Chelsea twice, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Mourinho made clear his unhappiness in Turkey with an extraordinary rant after Fenerbahce’s 3-2 win over Trabzonspor last Sunday. The Portuguese joined the club only last summer after being sacked by Roma in January but is eyeing other potential opportunities.

Mourinho is understood to have reached out to intermediaries asking to be kept abreast of any developments at Newcastle. The 61-year-old met Newcastle’s chairman, Yasir al-Rumayyan, at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in a social capacity in March and has maintained the connection.’
