Sunderland are among clubs linked with Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic, an 18-year-old Bosnia youth international. Roma have reportedly renewed contact after Gian Piero Gasperini’s approval, Leverkusen have activated a buy-back, and he is priced at about €30 million, around £25.9 million. He is said to be tempted by Gasperini.

Grêmio defender Viery has also drawn enquiries from Roma, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Brighton and Sunderland. Grêmio want more than €15 million, about £13 million, plus a sell-on, for the 21-year-old. He has played 27 matches, scored twice, and can cover centre-back and left-back.

De Telegraaf reports Geertruida would have considered a Feyenoord return had Robin van Persie stayed, but that option has faded. His RB Leipzig loan at Sunderland is over and the Feyenoord route appears less likely.

Oxford United, Wigan Athletic and York City are competing to sign Sunderland defender Zak Johnson. The England youth international impressed on loan at York, helping promotion from the National League, and with competition high his next step could be elsewhere.

TEAMtalk claims Hull City are weighing a move for former Sunderland captain Dan Neil. Rangers are in talks and hopeful.
