Sunderland ‘reach full agreement’ for £50m Lucas Bergvall? Claims played down | OneFootball

Football Insider reported Sunderland had reached a “full agreement” to sign Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, but that is understood to be wide of the mark and no deal has been struck.

The report also said an offer had been submitted and credited interest to Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.

Bergvall would be an ambitious target for Régis Le Bris. The 20-year-old is valued at around £50m, and Spurs are likely to seek the best terms given his age and profile. He joined from Djurgården in 2024 and later signed a contract to 2031, leaving Tottenham in a strong position.

Comfortable across central midfield, he is regarded as one of Sweden’s leading prospects. His age, technical quality and potential resale value appear to align with Sunderland’s recruitment model, and further quality is expected to arrive before the window closes.

For now, Thomas Meunier remains the only senior arrival. The club are understood to be taking a more measured approach after last summer’s extensive overhaul.
