Sunderland are preparing a significant off-field shake-up this summer, with Chief Business Officer David Bruce poised to leave.
Sunderland Echo understands that Bruce will depart in the coming months as the club shifts direction to grow commercial revenues.
Bruce joined in July 2023 as Chief Brand and Commercial Officer, then was promoted to Chief Business Officer a year later. He oversaw the switch to hummel as kit partner and outsourced retail operations to Fanatics. His work, including the 'Til The End campaign, drew praise from supporters.
A new CEO is expected to be appointed this summer, with a brief to drive revenues and strengthen the club's Premier League position. Tom Burwell will act as interim CEO until the appointment is made.
Sunderland have already refreshed their off-pitch structure, appointing Mike Papadimitriou as Chief Financial Officer last September. Burwell recently joined the board as a non-executive director, and both have close links to the Bia Sports Group, through which Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Juan Sartori manage their sporting investments.
The club are also recruiting a Chief Revenue Officer after Ashley Peden left his role as Chief Commercial Officer in January. Scott McCubbin, who also works with the Bia Sports Group, has stepped in on an interim basis.
