Granit Xhaka has confirmed his decision to stay at Sunderland this summer.
Chelsea made efforts to try and sign the Switzerland midfielder, with Xhaka’s former manager Xabi Alonso keen to bring in the 33-year-old.
But Sunderland insisted he was not for sale, and speaking to DAZN after Switzerland’s penalty shoot-out triumph over Colombia at the World Cup, Xhaka says he is happy where he is.
“Sunderland has been my home since day one,” he said.
“We are all very happy. I decided to stay where I am, the most important thing is family. I’m ready to make history with them.”
