Sunderland’s summer business is set to accelerate over the final five weeks of the window, with left-back recruitment a priority.

Sunderland Echo reports that Sunderland are stepping up their pursuit of Toulouse left back Dayann Methalie as they reshape the left side of defence.

Dennis Cirkin has already departed on a free, and Arthur Masuaku is widely expected to move on, with Konyaspor of Türkiye showing interest. That leaves Régis Le Bris with Reinildo as his only recognised left back, and the 32-year-old has entered the second and final year of his deal.

Noah Sadiki says he wants to improve his goal contributions this season after linking up with team-mates in Nashville on Monday. He joined Robin Roefs, Brian Brobbey, Simon Adingra, Habib Diarra and Nilson Angulo in returning to training following their World Cup commitments.

The Black Cats head to New Jersey this week to face Leeds United, before concluding their United States tour in Pennsylvania on Sunday.
