Sunderland have been linked with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Arthur Avom as plans step up for a summer rebuild ahead of Premier League and Europa League campaigns after a seventh-place finish under Régis Le Bris.
Bild claims Union Berlin are tracking Lorient midfielder Avom, with Sunderland and Bournemouth also credited with interest. Meanwhile, The West Ham Way reports that Sunderland are among the clubs monitoring West Ham United full-back Wan-Bissaka alongside Everton, Newcastle United, Fulham and Fenerbahce.
Avom, a defensive midfielder, is viewed as a promising profile. The report said he made 31 Ligue 1 appearances last season, scoring two and assisting one, and has already earned senior caps for Cameroon. Le Bris’ knowledge of the French market and Lorient adds context, while European commitments could push Sunderland towards younger, high-upside options.
That outlet has also suggested Everton are currently the most advanced in the Wan-Bissaka race and that West Ham could seek a £15m to £20m fee. The 28-year-old has extensive Premier League experience with Crystal Palace, Manchester United and West Ham, making the link an ambitious one.
Sunderland have Trai Hume and Nordi Mukiele as right-sided options, with Hume’s versatility often used in different roles. At this stage, the Wan-Bissaka situation appears one to watch rather than anything imminent from a Sunderland perspective.
With extra European fixtures on the horizon, depth remains a priority as Florent Ghisolfi balances incomings with potential exits, registration considerations and the wage structure.
