Sunderland are exploring a double summer move, with interest in Napoli midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Olympiacos right-back Costinha.
Il Mattino reports Sunderland remain keen on Anguissa after looking at a deal last summer, and the 30-year-old’s future is uncertain, with suggestions Napoli could be open to his departure.
Injuries have disrupted Anguissa’s season and complicated contract talks. He is tied to Napoli until 2027, and there is a growing sense the club may consider offers rather than pursue a renewal.
Sunderland were said to have pushed hard previously alongside Bournemouth, and the player’s family were keen on a return to England. Antonio Conte convinced him to stay then, and a Premier League move could again be realistic this summer.
Despite fitness concerns, Anguissa’s profile could add experience and physicality to Sunderland’s midfield. His ball carrying and work in the final third might offer a different dimension to Régis Le Bris’ squad if a deal is financially viable.
Sunderland are also being credited with interest in Costinha as they look to strengthen defensively. The 26-year-old helped Olympiacos win a league and cup double last season and featured during their European run, and he remains a regular this term.
The club have monitored him since January and are weighing whether to formalise that interest. Competition is expected from English and Italian sides, while Olympiacos are unlikely to engage until their season ends, and Costinha is under contract until 2029.
