Sunderland return to Premier League action against Spurs at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, two pm kick-off, with fresh team and injury updates.
According to Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats aim to build on their Tyne-Wear derby comeback to press top-10 claims, while Spurs chase vital points to pull clear of the relegation zone. Roberto De Zerbi takes charge for the first time since replacing Igor Tudor.
After an extra three weeks of recovery, Reinildo, Enzo Le Fee and Nordi Mukiele are expected to play a greater part for the hosts. For Spurs, Conor Gallagher, Joao Palinha and Lucas Bergvall should be able to feature significantly following injury.
Guglielmo Vicario is out after surgery on a pre-existing hernia during the break. He is expected to return this month but Sunday arrives too soon. Antonin Kinsky looks set to make his first appearance since being withdrawn in the first half of the first-leg defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Mathys Tel is available. The forward suffered a knock in the defeat to Nottingham Forest before the break but has been pictured in training in recent days.
Dan Ballard is out. He missed the Tyne-Wear derby and Northern Ireland’s play-off defeat to Italy with a hamstring issue, and is close to a return but will not feature on Sunday.
Robin Roefs is available after a hamstring problem. The derby came too soon, but around five weeks on, and having trained this week, he is available for selection.
