Melker Ellborg has missed out on Sweden’s World Cup squad.

According to Sunderland Echo, most nations have only named provisional lists at this stage, but Potter announced his 26-man group earlier this week.

The uncapped goalkeeper was drafted into Sweden’s set-up earlier this year after Robin Roefs’ injury opened the door at Sunderland and with some of Potter’s options sidelined. Roefs is back in the club’s starting XI and Potter has favoured experience.

AIK’s Kristoffer Nordfeldt, formerly of Swansea City, is included alongside Viktor Johansson of Stoke City and Jacob Widell Zetterstrom of Derby County. Nordfeldt returned for the play-offs in March and looks most likely to be number one this summer.

Sunderland are still set for strong representation at this summer’s tournament. Granit Xhaka, Omar Alderete, Habib Diarra and Nilson Angulo are regulars for Switzerland, Paraguay, Senegal and Ecuador, who have all qualified. If fit, those players are viewed as certainties for their squads.

Sadiki is a DR Congo regular and, if fit, will feature, while Robin Roefs could be selected by the Netherlands. Brian Brobbey and Lutsharel Geertruida are strong contenders for that squad, having been picked recently by Ronald Koeman.

Chemsdine Talbi made his first Morocco start in a friendly on Tuesday night and, having been in their recent AFCON squad, seems likely to travel. Wilson Isidor will also travel after choosing Haiti, making his first appearances and scoring his first goal during this break.

Simon Adingra and Arthur Masuaku could also feature for Ivory Coast and DR Congo respectively, though there is doubt over whether they will still be Sunderland players by the summer.
