Sunderland’s squad value ranked against AC Milan, Juventus and fellow Europa League qualifiers | OneFootball

Sunderland will play in next season’s Europa League after beating Chelsea, and their current squad value can now be set against AC Milan, Juventus and other confirmed qualifiers.

According to Sunderland Echo, goals from Trai Hume and Brian Brobbey did the damage on Sunday, while Brighton’s home defeat by Manchester United and Brentford’s draw at Liverpool confirmed seventh place in the Premier League.

The Stadium of Light revelled as the Black Cats secured only a second shot at European football. It will be their first competitive venture on the continent since Bob Stokoe’s FA Cup winners met Vasas Budapest and Sporting CP in the 1973/74 Cup Winners Cup.

Despite that achievement, it could be argued Sunderland are not the biggest surprise in the field, with Portuguese second tier side SC União Torreense shocking Sporting CP to win the Taça de Portugal. As it stands they have the lowest squad value among the 13 clubs already confirmed in the league phase.

Current squad values for confirmed entrants include SC União Torreense €9.58m, AZ Alkmaar €165.88m, OGC Nice €169.10m, Celta Vigo €172.90m, Stade Rennais €242.20m and Hoffenheim €246.10m.

Also listed are Real Sociedad €272.70m, Sunderland €381.95m, Olympique Marseille €386.00m, Bayer Leverkusen €449.75m, AC Milan €483.50m, Bournemouth €507.10m and Juventus €544.20m.
