Former Championship star Sam Parkin feels that Swansea City are still light in some departments and need to do a little more business to strengthen in January.

Swansea boss Luke Williams brought in a host of new faces to the club this summer to improve the squad and provide them with depth.

The Wales outfit have begun the season well and they are currently sitting in seventh position in the Championship table, one point off from the playoff zone.

However, Parkin pointed out that although Williams’ side have improved defensively, they still lack the quality needed to open up the opposition.

He stressed that Swansea are light in some areas and will need to do more business in the upcoming January window.

“Defensive numbers are really good, which is not something you would associate with Luke Williams, probably latterly at Notts County and maybe not last year either”, Parkin said on What The EFL.

“I think only Sheffield United and another West Bromwich have conceded fewer. They have only conceded four.

“So defensively, they are looking really solid and I think that is probably a realisation that that had to change and maybe they have not probably the ammunition going the other way to really open up and take games to the opposition.

“And that will come in time, maybe when these new recruits get up to speed and when they can do a little bit of business because the squad is a little bit light.

“I would suggest it would be anything better than maybe a season of improvement and consolidation, maybe into the top half.”

Swansea are set to face Bristol City on Sunday and will be hoping to secure their third win in a row when they take on the Robins.
