Swansea City should throw their hat into the ring for RC Lens winger Anass Zaroury, as Championship rivals Coventry City and Norwich City circle the Moroccan international.

Coventry and Norwich are reportedly monitoring Zaroury's situation at Lens, as per L'Equipe, with the 24-year-old struggling to convince new manager Pierre Sage despite his €5m transfer from Burnley last summer.

Zaroury found the back of the net just twice in 28 Ligue 1 appearances last season, falling well short of expectations - he contributed 16 goals whilst at the Clarets in 22/23.

The Swans' current attacking options have consistently failed to deliver the goals needed for a successful Championship campaign.

Ronald, despite his unwavering work rate, managed two goals across 46 appearances in the second tier, and he only has six in total since arriving to the club from Portuguese outfit Estrela.

South Korean winger Eom Ji-Sung scored one more than his Brazilian counterpart in 24/25, with three. This shows that in a total of 109 shots taken between the pair - 51 for Ronald and 58 for Eom - only five goals were scored between them in the league.

Eom did score crucial winners against both Middlesbrough and Derby County, but his goal against Boro was his first in English football, and on his 30th appearance.

Although Zeidane Inoussa arrives in South Wales from BK Hacken this summer with big potential after scoring 11 times, it's not nailed on that he can replicate his form the Allsvenskan straight away - and that's without arguing the Championship is a harder division.

In his first full-season with Burnley, Zaroury matched Inoussa's goal tally of 11 whilst making five assists.

Former manager Luke Williams admitted the team had been struggling to create enough chances a couple of months after the season started. The Swans failed to score in any of their last four games at that time - October - and perhaps Alan Sheehan won't be wanting to echo the same words next season.

Zaroury can hit the ground running with Swansea

Zaroury's proven second-tier pedigree makes him an ideal candidate to solve Swansea's goal problems. At 24, the Moroccan still has his peak years ahead of him and would definitely add both immediate improvement and long-term value to the Welsh side. Also, Sheehan told Wales Online that Swansea need "a few more bodies, which is quite obvious", after their pre-season loss to Cheltenham Town.

His situation at Lens suggests he could be available for a reasonable fee, which should be attractive given he ranked in the top 3% of Championship players for progressive carries per 90 with 5.49 for Burnley. This means he has the dribbling ability to match the consistent ability to find the net in England.

Vincent Kompany, Zaroury's former Burnley boss, described Zaroury as a "superstar" after he scored a brace against Premier League side Bournemouth in the FA Cup, saying "the technical ability he showed in tight spaces isn't easy to teach".

With Coventry and Norwich already circling, Swansea maybe cannot afford to miss out on a player who could provide instant quality. The Jack Army's current options all show players who are probably still getting used to the English game, and they might see a repeat of that with Inoussa.
