Syria’s Qualification Goals: How the Qasioun Eagles clinched their Arab Cup ticket
Syria booked their place in the Arab Cup 2025 group stage after claiming 2-0 victory over South Sudan in their qualifying playoff on Tuesday in Doha.
The win sends the Eagles through with momentum and gives coach Jose Maria Lana Fernandez the perfect start to the campaign.
After goalless first half, in the 52 minute of the second half, Mohammad Al Hallaq opened the scoring for Syria with brilliant assist from Mahmoud Al Aswad.
Just seven minutes later, Mahmoud Al Mawas doubled Syria's lead against South Sudan.
With this result, Syria qualified for the group stage of the 2025 Arab Cup joining the difficult first group in the tournament where it is located alongside the national teams of Qatar & Tunisia, in addition to the Palestinian national team which qualified short while ago at the expense of Libya.
