Teagan Micah has withdrawn from the Women's Asian Cup on home soil after failing to recover in time from concussion. The competition also serves as qualifying for the 2027 Women's World Cup.

The OL Lyonnes goalkeeper, second in the club's hierarchy and formerly of Liverpool, will not join her national team for the tournament in Australia from one to 21 March. The player said in a post that she is devastated to pull out and, despite her efforts, is not ready to return.

She has missed four matches since suffering a head injury on the eve of the Classico against PSG on the first of February. With Christiane Endler unavailable, she had been due to start, but Féerine Belhadj stepped in at the Parc des Princes.

Her message called the timing cruel and reflected on how elite sport can be heart-breaking, not only for a player but a person. She set her priorities as health, a long-term career and playing again for OL, and pledged full support to her team-mates while thanking the club, the national team and those who reached out.

Micah must also limit screen time as part of her recovery and could face a wait before returning to competition. Team-mate Inès Benyahia needed almost an entire season to come back after a pre-season head injury.
