We looked at which Ipswich Town players at set to leave the club next summer as things stand when their contracts expire.
Ipswich Town will be aiming to challenge for promotion in the Championship this season following their relegation from the Premier League.
Ipswich have brought in a number of new signings so far this summer following relegation, with David Button, Ashley Young, Cedric Kipre, Azor Matusiwa, Jens Cajuste and Chuba Akpom arriving at Portman Road as manager Kieran McKenna looks to refresh his squad.
However, there have also been plenty of outgoings, and the Tractor Boys have lost a number of key players in recent months, including the likes of Cameron Burgess, Axel Tuanzebe, Sam Morsy, Omari Hutchinson, Nathan Broadhead and Liam Delap.
While McKenna's full focus will be on strengthening his squad further before the end of the summer transfer window, he will also have some decisions to make during the course of the season as a host of players are entering the final year of their current deals.
With that in mind, we looked at which Ipswich players will be leaving the club next summer as things stand when their contracts expire.
Goalkeeper Christian Walton initially joined Ipswich on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2021 before making the move permanent in January 2022, and he kept 23 clean sheets in 46 games to help the club to promotion from League One in the 2022-23 season.
However, despite his starring role in the Tractor Boys' success, Walton has found himself limited to a back-up role for the past two seasons, and that remains the case at the start of the current campaign, so both club and player will have a big decision to make in the summer.
Goalkeeper David Button became Ipswich's first signing of the summer when he arrived at Portman Road on a free transfer following his departure from League One side Reading.
Button will provide cover for Alex Palmer and Walton this season, but as he is currently third-choice, it remains to be seen whether the experienced 36-year-old will ever feature for the Tractor Boys.
Defender Harry Clarke played an important role in Ipswich's back-to-back promotions after arriving from Arsenal for a fee of £1.5 million in January 2023, but he fell out of favour last season in the Premier League.
Clarke spent the second half on last season on loan at Sheffield United, but now he is back at Portman Road, he will be looking to regain his place in the starting line-up once he recovers from a knee injury.
Defender Ashley Young joined Ipswich on a free transfer this summer after his release by Everton, with the Tractor Boys fighting off competition from his former club Watford to land his signature.
There is no doubt that Young is still more than capable of performing to a high level, as he demonstrated for the Toffees in the Premier League last season, but as he is now 40 years of age, there are question marks over whether he will continue his career beyond the summer.
Defender Elkan Baggott has only made seven senior appearances for Ipswich so far, but the club took up their option to extend his contract by a further year this summer, which suggests he is highly-rated by McKenna.
After injury disrupted his loan spell at Blackpool last season, another temporary move could be on the cards for Baggott this summer, and if he does depart before the end of the window, he will need to impress in order to earn a new deal with the Tractor Boys.
Defender Conor Townsend joined Ipswich from West Bromwich Albion last summer, and while he failed to displace Leif Davis at left-back, he proved to be a solid performer whenever called upon by McKenna last season.
Townsend would have been hoping for more regular game time in the Championship, but he suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season that is expected to rule him out for much of the campaign, and that could have big implications for his future at Portman Road.
Midfielder Jack Taylor made the move to Ipswich from Peterborough United in the summer of 2023 for a fee of around £1.5 million, but despite arriving to much fanfare, he has struggled to nail down a place in the starting line-up at Portman Road over the past two years.
Taylor has started this season as a regular for the Tractor Boys, but with the returning Cajuste looking likely to partner big-money signing Matusiwa in midfield once he gets up to speed, the 27-year-old could soon find himself back on the bench.
Midfielder Cameron Humphreys is a product of the Ipswich academy, and he enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers last season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in 50 appearances to help the Chairboys reach the League One play-offs.
The early indications are that McKenna views Humphreys as part of his plans this season, but with Matusiwa, Cajuste and Taylor all seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order, he could find his game time restricted during the final year of his current contract, particularly if further midfield additions arrive before the end of the window.
Winger Wes Burns joined Ipswich from Fleetwood Town in the summer of 2021, and he was one of their standout performers during their back-to-back promotions, while he was also a regular in the Premier League in the first half of last season.
However, Burns has been sidelined since sustaining a serious knee injury in the defeat at Liverpool back in January, and while McKenna is undoubtedly a big admirer, he will likely wait to see whether the 30-year-old comes back as the same player after such a lengthy absence before deciding whether to give him a new contract.
Forward Conor Chaplin made the move to Ipswich from Barnsley in the summer of 2021, and, like Burns, he was another of the leading figures as the club achieved consecutive promotions, but he has not been guaranteed a place in the team in recent times.
Chaplin has mainly been used as a substitute by McKenna in the early stages of this season, but the 28-year-old will be determined to prove that he remains an important member of the Tractor Boys squad over the next 12 months before his contract expires.
