Huddersfield Town and Plymouth Argyle will both be without key operators for their upcoming clash
As the 2025/26 League One campaign rolls on into the critical winter period, points are more valuable than ever as clubs up and down the division aim to build momentum.
Both Huddersfield Town and Plymouth Argyle are in desperate need of a victory heading into their clash, following poor runs of form for both sides.
The Terriers started the season strongly and were real promotion contenders, but have lost their last five matches in all competitions to pile pressure on manager Lee Grant.
Argyle are going through a similarly poor run of form, with four straight defeats leaving them stranded in the relegation zone and raising questions over Tom Cleverley’s job security.
Ahead of the clash, Football League World has taken a look at the players who are set to miss this fixture through injury or suspension.

Marcus McGuane has been out for a large majority of the season with a groin injury and that will prevent him from featuring against Plymouth Argyle.
It is still unclear when he may return to action.

Zepiqueno Redmond was ruled out of action for several months at the end of September with a knee injury.
The 19-year-old only made three appearances for the Terriers before suffering the problem and will be unavailable for quite some time.

Like Redmond, Will Alves is another loan player that Huddersfield fans haven’t been able to see the best of.
The Leicester City man suffered a foot injury, which required surgery at the end of September and will also be out for the next few months.

Herbie Kane last featured for Huddersfield in early September and won’t be making his return to Grant’s squad against Plymouth.
A groin issue is keeping him sidelined at this moment in time, with it currently unclear when exactly he will be available for selection once again.

Plymouth Argyle are going through somewhat of an injury crisis, with up to seven players potentially missing the Huddersfield clash.
Joe Edwards missed Argyle’s FA Cup defeat against Wycombe Wanderers and league loss at the hands of Mansfield Town due to a calf issue.
Cleverley recently revealed that he will be out for the next couple of weeks, which will be of huge relief to the Terriers..

Ayman Benarous suffered what was described by Tom Cleverley as a “freak training injury” recently and will be out for up to six weeks.
This means that there is no way he will be able to make the Pilgrims' squad against Huddersfield Town.

Jack Mackenzie is yet to make his debut for Plymouth after joining the club from Aberdeen in the summer and he won’t make his debut anytime soon.
The Scotsman is suffering with shin splints and there isn’t currently a return date set in place when he may feature once more.

Xavier Amaechi has been out of action since late August with a hamstring injury, which will prevent him from playing any role against Huddersfield.
The 24-year-old still has some time to go before he will feature again, much to Cleverley’s dismay.

Like Amaechi, Caleb Watts will miss the Huddersfield contest due to hamstring issues.
The 23-year-old has been sidelined since early September and still isn’t near contention for the Pilgrims’ first team.

Julio Pleguezuelo underwent knee surgery during the summer, which ruled him out of action for the foreseeable future.
