Welcome to today’s exclusive & comprehensive round-up of all things Bayern Munich from Bayern insider Christian Falk. Featuring updates on Luka Vušković, Marc Guehi, Givairo Read and Malick Fofana.

Today’s top stories

  • Does the future of Bayern Munich’s left wing look more like Yan Diomande or Said El Mala?
  • Could Rayan Vitor be Bayern’s next top young signing?
  • What lessons must the club remember from former boss Louis van Gaal?
  • And plenty more on  Leon Goretzka, Harry Kane, Nico Schlotterbeck, and more!

Bayern Munich broke a record with their 3-1 win over FC Köln on Wednesday. 15 wins in 17 Bundesliga games sees the reigning champions match Pep Guardiola’s first half of the Bundesliga campaign back in 2013/14 – but Vincent Kompany’s men have more goals. Manuel Neuer was asked after the match if this was the best Bayern team he’d ever been part of, and he said he didn’t want to insult any of the sides that had come before, as anyone could be upset! But he did say that it’s one of the best he’s played in. I think the truth is somewhere between the lines.

Were Bayern offered a Tottenham player?

It is TRUE: Bayern were offered Luka Vušković (18). This would be an interesting move for the player. He’s doing very well at Hamburg. Bayern did listen to an offer from the agents, but they said no for now. They just wanted to have a look at the defender. They like him, but Bayern have other plans at the moment. The first priority is to get Dayot Upamecano’s signature on a contract extension. If this is done, they want to see if something can happen on the market like Marc Guehi.

Marc Guehi is still of interest amid Kim Min-jae conundrum

It is TRUE: There are ongoing talks around Marc GuehiBayern are keeping a close eye on what’s happening in England with the Crystal Palace centre-back, Manchester City and Liverpool. So, they’re saying they can’t do anything now during the winter transfer window, but they want to show the 25-year-old that they’d like to go for him in the summer when he’s set to become a free agent.

It’s worth pointing out that Kim Min-jae remains a Bayern Munich player, and he had an exceptional goal against FC Köln, in one of the best matches he’s ever had for the club. He was the player of the match, registering a goal in the second half and producing a strong defensive display as the Bavarians came back to win the game in Cologne. The South Korean international played with an injury last season, and he wasn’t confident with the situation – he always had to play. Now, he’s said that because he isn’t always playing, he’s more confident with this process, as he wants to get fit and be in the best fighting shape possible for the backline.

If he’s doing really well in Munich, he doesn’t want to move. If Kim doesn’t go to the bosses at Bayern Munich and ask to be sold this summer – clubs like AC Milan are interested – then they can’t bring in someone like Marc Guehi. Of course, this changes if he does ask for a move at the end of the season.

Is Nico Schlotterbeck still in the picture?

It is TRUE: Bayern’s interest in Nico Schlotterbeck has cooled. He’s too expensive at the moment if Dayot Upamecano ends up signing his new contract. Schlotterbeck would like this move – his family contains quite a few Bayern supporters – but no, FC Bayern won’t go for him at the moment. So we have to keep an eye on England and the Premier League and wait and see what the clubs there are planning on doing. The Germany international said he wants to win titles and silverware, but I don’t think it’s possible with Borussia Dortmund at the moment. If he wants to win titles – he probably needs a transfer! But Bayern, I’m afraid, aren’t an option at this point in time.

Farewell to Raphaël Guerreiro?

It is TRUE: The 2025/26 season will be Raphaël Guerreiro’s last at Bayern MunichWhen he arrived from Dortmund, he was a free agent. He’s on a high salary at about €7m a year. Guerreiro is 32 years old and doesn’t play in the first XI. He’s done a good job at Bayern, but now it’s time for something fresh, and they need the space in the squad for new players. Everyone at Bayern will wish him well! Clubs in Portugal are interested in the fullback, so I think we’ll see him back in his home country soon.

Bayern Munich really like Givairo Read

It is TRUE: Givairo Read is Bayern’s top target for the right-back position. The Dutchman is one of the club’s top targets anyway; they want to sign this player. They’ve got many ideas about what they’ll do with this kind of footballer. Bayern, of course, have a lot of right-backs available (or players who can fill the position). We know they want to sell Sacha Boey, for instance. If they bring Read in, Josip Stanišić could play more centrally in the defence, and Konrad Laimer can play in both the backline and midfield. Givairo Read can also play on the left side of the defence if Alphonso Davies is out. So there are many options. I think Read’s a very, very interesting player for this Bayern squad.

A successor or two for Leon Goretzka?

It is TRUE: Bayern are considering two internal talents in Noël Aséko and Santos Daiber to succeed Leon Goretzka. Bayern Munich are thinking they have plenty of midfield talents like Joshua Kimmich, a young player like Tom Bischof, and Aleksandar Pavlović. That’s enough for this position. They can then bring some talents through, just like they did with Lennart Karl. Daiber played very well in the friendly win over RB Salzburg, so he could be the next one to make it through.

But Bayern also have Aséko, and the 20-year-old midfielder is currently on loan at Hannover. Hannover do have a buy option and can sign him for €1.5m, but also Bayern have a buy-back option of €2.5m, so they can bring him back anyway! He’s part of the same agency as the son of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (he’s on the supervisory board, so the connection is very close). Noël Aséko is doing very well over at Hannover, he’s always playing. So, he could be another option in this position. Bayern ultimately have a lot of talent available for the position, so they don’t need to strengthen in the market.

By the way, Nathan De Cat is still on the list. You also have a 16-year-old talent over at Hertha, Kennet Eichhorn, who’s also catching the eye. There are options, but they don’t have to do anything if they don’t want to.

Lessons from Louis van Gaal

You have to give young players minutes. I remember the tenure of Louis van Gaal, and he always said, “I always have three young talents in my squad.” That’s why we had Thomas Müller, that’s why David Alaba came to the fore (eventually joining Real Madrid), and that’s why there was Holger Badstuber. So, many, many players who made it through because of this culture. If you give playing time to stars like Lennart Karl – who wouldn’t have had many minutes if Bayern had signed Florian Wirtz –  you see there is talent worthy of the first team. There is talent in the squad, there is talent in the academy – let them play and see what they’re capable of! There’s another talent to watch out for, attacking midfielder Felipe Chávez, who we spoke about last week. Another one who I think is a very good player. Let’s see how they develop!

Strengthening the left wing at Bayern Munich

❌ It is NOT TRUE: Bayern are considering signing Malick Fofana. It’s true that Bayern did have the Belgian on the list. They had scouts at Lyon watching him, but in the end, they decided not to go for this player. Bayern Munich will still recruit for this position and spend the most money here in the summer. There are several names on the shortlist. They’re looking to secure some competition for Luis Diaz, as they don’t have enough on the left wing.

It’s a complicated situation with Yan Diomande (19), as Bayern already have a number one starter in this position in Diaz. So, do they want to spend over €100m [£86.7m] for a player who they’re not sure will start ahead of the Colombian? He’s a teenager and a big talent, so Bayern will try something, but I don’t think they’re going to spend so much money on him. Don’t forget that Diomande mentioned he has a dream club he’d love to play for: that’s Liverpool.

They’re more likely to go for Said El Mala who had a good, if not quite brilliant, game against the Bundesliga leaders. He nearly scored in the first minute and is clearly a good talent. After the match, Max Eberl, Bayern’s head of sport, had very warm words for the 19-year-old and talked him up as a really good player. If he’s talking about a player from another club, you always have to consider this as a bit of a signal to the player that, “We like you, and perhaps we’ll see you next season!”

Could Rayan be Harry Kane’s understudy?

Image de l'article :The Bayern Insider: Munich ready dream Premier League hijack as brutal Yan Diomande truth comes to light

It is TRUE: Bayern Munich are considering Vasco Da Gama’s Rayan Vitor as a potential signing. The club is keeping a close eye on the Brazilian. They’re not yet sure when would be the right time to bring the 19-year-old to Munich. Harry Kane is still here and is in the best shape of his career. At the moment, the position is quite secure, and Bayern want to give Kane a new contract. Behind the Englishman, they technically don’t need a striker as they have Serge Gnabry.

The German scored a fantastic goal against FC Köln in the midweek – perhaps the goal of the year in the Bundesliga! He’s going to get a two-year contract, that’s the plan. Bayern Munich feel Gnabry he’s doing very well in central positions, so he can play instead of Kane if he needs a break, and he can play in Jamal Musiala’s position if the 22-year-old is left out. He can play many positions and he’s already there and has an understanding of what is required at Bayern Munich. So, I think in this position, we won’t see a new striker arriving at the club.

Not good news for Nicolas Jackson, despite him performing very well at the AFCON. I think he won’t get a new contract. There are many strikers who would dream of playing in Munich, but they’re quite comfortable with the position.

Fresh talks with Harry Kane

It is TRUE: Bayern are set for fresh contract talks with Harry KaneI talked with both sides, and both sides are open to talks. It won’t be a big thing if they don’t sit down in January – if not, it will happen after. Kane says he has time, and it’s also okay if talks don’t start until after the World Cup. Personally, I don’t think it will take so long, as Bayern Munich are aware that if he keeps up his form during the World Cup, it’ll get difficult to make a new contract on the same conditions! I think they’ll wait for the release clause to run out in January and then they will talk soon. If they can get the England star on a new contract, they don’t have to bring any new striker in, so it’s a perfect situation for both sides.
