April will begin with three away matches in a row for the Borussia Dortmund first team. The first will take the Black & Yellows to SC Freiburg. BVB have won on their last two visits to the Breisgau: 3-1 in August 2022 thanks to goals from Jamie Gittens, Youssoufa Moukoko and Marius Wolf, and 4-2 in September 2023 (goals: Hummels (2), Malen, Reus). BVB also won the reverse fixture this term, with Maximilian Beier, Felix Nmecha, Julian Brandt and Jamie Gittens scoring the goals in a 4-0 victory last November..
Wednesday 9 April (21:00 CEST): FC Barcelona vs. BVBBVB will go up against FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. The first leg will be played in Spain, with the return fixture at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK to follow a week later. Their first clash with the Spaniards took place on Matchday 6 of the league phase this season. BVB put up a good fight against the favourites in December and levelled the score on two occasions through Serhou Guirassy, but ultimately succumbed to a 3-2 defeat.
Saturday 12 April (18:30 CEST): FC Bayern Munich vs. BVBBVB’s next away trip will to be FC Bayern Munich. The record champions are leading the table again this season. The reverse fixture last November ended in a 1-1 stalemate, with Gittens firing the Black & Yellows into a 1-0 lead. Borussia won on their most recent visit to the Bavarian state capital. Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson scored in a 2-0 win almost exactly a year ago.
Tuesday 15 April (21:00 CEST): BVB vs. FC BarcelonaThe return fixture will determine who makes it into the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. 81,365 spectators will be in attendance, though the demand for tickets was significantly higher. Around 150,000 club members alone have submitted 300,000 ticket requests. Last year, BVB reached the semi-finals thanks to a spectacular 4-2 victory against Atlético Madrid in the quarter-final second leg. The majority of the sell-out crowd will be hoping for another successful evening of European football.
Sunday 20 April (17:30 CEST): BVB vs. Borussia MönchengladbachBorussia Mönchengladbach will pay a visit to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on Easter Sunday. The Borussia from the Lower Rhine have not won in Dortmund in any competition for more than 10 years, with BVB winning all 11 of their home games in that timeframe. The last three home games have been particularly high-scoring, ending 4-2, 5-2 and 6-0.
Saturday 26 April (15:30 CEST): TSG 1899 Hoffenheim vs. BVBThe Black & Yellows will play their penultimate away game of the season against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. BVB have won their last four away matches in Sinsheim, including a 3-1 victory in September 2023. Hoffenheim have since visited SIGNAL IDUNA PARK three times (twice in the Bundesliga and once in the DFB-Pokal). The reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw. Reyna put BVB ahead with an early goal in the second half, only for ex-Dortmund player Jacob Bruun Larsen to equalise in stoppage time.
Sunday 27 April (15:00 CEST): BVB women vs. FC Schalke 04League leaders Borussia Dortmund will take on closest challengers Schalke 04 at the end of April, with both teams locked in a fierce race for the women’s Westfalenliga title. The duo are currently separated by only one point in the Westfalenliga table. Only the champions will be promoted to the Regionalliga at the end of the season. There is huge excitement for the Ruhr derby – only a few hours after the tickets went on pre-sale to members, all the seated tickets for the game had been taken.
