The Cantera Rojiblanca was once again well represented as the Mexico U-23 National Team earned a 1-1 draw against the Dominican Republic. Gael García and Brandon Téllez were named in the starting lineup for El Tri’s second Group Stage match at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, played at Estadio El Cóndor.
Both Guadalajara players were included in Eduardo Arce’s starting XI. Gael García once again showcased his leadership by wearing the captain’s armband throughout the match, while Brandon Téllez also delivered a solid performance.
Mexico came from behind after a defensive lapse in the 18th minute allowed the hosts to take the lead.
In the second half, another Guadalajara Academy product, Juan Pablo Uribe, entered the match as a substitute for Marco Fava. Mexico’s persistence paid off in the 78th minute, when Jonathan Pérez found the back of the net to score the equalizer and secure a 1-1 draw for El Tri.
Mexico’s next match will be against Guatemala on Monday, August 3, at 2:00 p.m. (CDT), once again at Estadio El Cóndor.
