Enzo Maresca has spoken on the connection between Alejandro Garnacho and Enzo Fernandez ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Newcastle.

The Blues make the long trip to the north east on Saturday lunchtime looking for a first win at St James’ Park since 2021.

Chelsea currently sit fourth, six points ahead of Newcastle in 12th, and a victory would really give Maresca’s men a huge confidence boost.

Garnacho arrived in a deal worth £40m from Manchester United in the summer, and has put in some impressive performances.

The Argentine has made the left wing spot his own at this point, and has seemingly earned the trust of Maresca through his performances.

Garnacho came off the bench to score twice against Cardiff to send Chelsea to the Carabao Cup quarter finals, and he appears to be settling in well.

The 21-year-old still lacks consistency especially with his end product, but the improvement he’s made since he arrived is clear.

Garnacho appears to have struck up some good on pitch chemistry with Fernandez, something Maresca explained ahead of the Newcastle game.

“The connection between Enzo and Garna is good; they are both from Argentina and, most of the time, they play on the same side of the pitch,” he said as quoted on X.com.

“We know that Enzo is doing a lot for Garna [since he joined the club, and it’s the same for Facundo Buonanotte since he arrived, too.”

Estevao expected to be back for Aston Villa game

Garnacho isn’t the only winger who’s impressed this season, with Estevao also making an instant impact at the club.
