Leeds United’s 2025 was bookended by uncertainty, yet delivered a record-high points total and the Championship title under Daniel Farke. The year also brought farewells for Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo.
According to Leedsunited.news, here are the top five games of the year, ranked. At No five, a 3-1 win at Sheffield United saw an early Illan Meslier own goal overturned as Junior Firpo levelled, then Ao Tanaka and Joel Piroe struck in the 89th and 90th minutes.
No four, Leeds 7-0 Cardiff in February at Elland Road, punctured a grind of narrow wins as the hosts cut loose. It was their first home seven since Don Revie’s side beat Southampton by the same scoreline in 1972.
No three, a 3-1 defeat of Chelsea under the lights at Elland Road in 2025/26, eased pressure on Farke after sections of the crowd had chanted during the previous home game against Aston Villa. Jaka Bijol, Ao Tanaka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin delivered a timely, deserved win after a long winless run.
No two was Plymouth 1-2 Leeds, sealed by a last-kick winner from Manor Solomon that clinched the Championship crown. Away from home kept it short of top spot.
No one, Leeds 6-1 Stoke City, became the cathartic high point. Promotion was not technically sealed that day, but the celebrations felt like years of frustration under Bates, GFH and Massimo Cellino being washed away.
