Barcelona could soon be forced to make an important decision regarding Jan Virgili for several reasons.
As reported before, Barcelona officials met with the winger’s representatives at the Ciutat Esportiva to discuss his future after Mallorca’s relegation to the Segunda Division.
It must be remembered that although Virgili left Barcelona in 2025, the Blaugrana still own 40% of the player’s rights and several other options, giving them significant influence over what happens next.
With the 19-year-old determined to continue playing top-flight football, Barcelona are understandably studying several possible solutions.
The most straightforward option on the table is a return to Barcelona.
Notably, Mallorca’s relegation has reduced Virgili’s release clause from €30 million to €12 million.

Since Barcelona already control 40% of his rights, acquiring the remaining 60% would cost around €7.2 million.
That figure is viewed as an attractive opportunity, especially considering the player’s development over the past season. Virgili is capable of operating on either wing and could provide additional depth in attack.
His versatility may become even more valuable if Roony Bardghji leaves the club this summer. In that scenario, Virgili could emerge as a useful squad option and a natural backup for Lamine Yamal across multiple competitions.
A second possibility, according to Mundo Deportivo, would involve Barcelona bringing Virgili back with the intention of selling him for a profit.
His current market value is estimated at around €15 million, meaning Barcelona could potentially generate several million through a future transfer.
A third option involves signing the winger before immediately sending him on loan to another top-flight club.

This would allow Virgili to continue his development with regular minutes while Barcelona maintain control over a player whose value could rise further.
The club believes he still has significant room for growth, making a loan strategy particularly appealing.
Lastly, the outlet mentions that the fourth possibility involves reaching an agreement with Real Betis after re-signing the player.
Since the relations between the two clubs remain strong, they could facilitate a deal beneficial to all parties.
Ultimately, Barcelona’s choice will depend on how Hansi Flick views the squad ahead of the new campaign.
If the German coach believes Virgili can contribute immediately, a return becomes more realistic. If not, the club may instead look to maximise the player’s market value.
