THE PRIMAVERA'S SEASON COMES TO AN END

It has been a long and positive season that ended in a disappointing way. Milan Primavera's year closed in defeat to Sassuolo in the quarter-finals of the Championship play-offs. The Neroverdi, reigning Italian champions, won 3-0 (all goals in the first half), setting up a semi-final clash with Inter. For the Rossoneri, however, they fell short in the first round of the knockout phase (just like last season), and it was a tough game that shouldn't distract from a positive year, with standout performances from Primavera 1's youngest side.
As well as Sassuolo's better experience with nine 2005-born players starting, we were set back by injuries and players out on international duty. It was a bitter end at Viola Park, ending a year of standout performances, particularly in reaching the Primavera Coppa Italia final as well as an array of important wins, above all away from home. This summer, several players are out on international duty before returning to the PUMA House of Football for the 2025/26 season, when we will no doubt continue to grow with our effort and ambition. MATCH REPORT The Rossoneri started well, with Bonomi's venomous effort in the 2nd minute that called Scacchetti into action. It was a deceiving start, however, as soon after Sassuolo came close to opening the scoring in the 10th minute through Perera's rebound. In the 19th minute, however, they got their lead through Knezović's effort following a Sassuolo free kick. The goal didn't change the rhythm of the game and Guidi tried to change things with two changes in the 28th minute, bringing on Victor and Sia. But in the 36th minute, the Neroverdi made it two through Di Bitonto's header, then in the 42nd minute he thwarted Scotti's effort (well set up by Sia) in the Rossoneri's best chance of the half. The first period then ended in the worst way possible, with Knezović's long-range effort from 35 yards out creeping in, making it 3-0 to Sassuolo.
We got going again without changes, with AC Milan looking to create against a well-organised defence. Sala had a long-range effort in the 49th minute, but Scacchetti was equal to it; from the restart, Minta fended off Duțu and his effort skimmed the bar. In the 57th minute, Liberali's low cross almost found Sia, but Schacchetti was able to block it with his feet. Duțu then lined one up from distance, but it was a rather hopeful effort. As the game continued, the Rossoneri began to tire and the rhythm then began to slow. In the end, Liberali's drive and Perrucci's strike from the edge of the area couldn't make a difference. At the final whistle, it ended 3-0 to Sassuolo.
