Nicolas Jackson was only at Chelsea for 2 years, but he was in the headline it feels like 20.

There’s just so much to talk about – the good, the bad and the ugly.

It ended in the most dramatic way possible, with a failed move to Bayern Munich that was resurrected at the last moment. But the story isn’t over – it’s only a loan deal, and there’s already been debate about what the conditions are to make it permanent.

For his part, Jackson and his agency Diomansy Kamara are doing all they can to burn their bridges with Chelsea and make a return impossible. Kamara was on TV in France where he made it clear that Jackson has no intention of returning, and even that his relationship with his coach is broken to some degree.

“Today at Chelsea, the relationship with [Enzo] Maresca isn’t necessarily the best,” Kamara said.

“We’re never going to bite the hand that feeds us because Chelsea allowed him to find the European level.

“He was there for two years and scored 30 goals, so he always had a good relationship. After, it’s true that the red cards complicated it at Chelsea. Today, we’re looking towards Bayern having a good season. We will see what is best for him. But it’s true that Bayern is a priority for him for a long time.”

Chelsea set for another summer of drama

It’s curious because Jackson’s comments about Maresca were positive – clearly their strategy has changed now, and they want to get ahead of the game in terms of making an return unpalatable for the Blues.

We’re bracing ourselves for another summer of drama next year – even if Jackson does well in Germany, Bayern are going to battle to get his price down, and Chelsea won’t back down easily.
