Leeds United legend Dominic Matteo has lauded the collective spirit within the Whites camp, saying they possess a never-say-die mentality and crediting Daniel Farke, his staff, and the squad, insisting it is a collective effort.
The Elland Road outfit saw off Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford on Monday night, with two early Noah Okafor strikes before the half-hour mark enough to seal the win, as one presenter remarked that Farke proved to be Michael Carrick’s kryptonite.
Their first league victory over the Red Devils since 2002 extended their unbeaten run to three matches, taking five points from nine, with Jamie Carragher noting that the manner of the display would concern their relegation rivals.
The result has lifted Farke’s side up to 15th place and opened a six-point cushion above the drop zone with six games remaining, underlining how Richard Keys’ claim that Leeds would be fine is edging closer to becoming reality.
Matteo praised the collective spirit within the squad, highlighting a strong sense of togetherness and resilience that has developed within the group.

He pointed to the team’s refusal to give up in matches, noting that their consistent effort and commitment have been well received by supporters.
The former Scotland international also lauded the squad for their collective contribution, emphasising that the progress achieved is the product of a unified effort involving Farke and his backroom staff.
Matteo said on LUTV (21:00): “There’s a spirit about us at the moment and I’ve said it a few times, that we don’t give up.
“We have a go, and as a fan, they want to see that, and when you’ve got players who put in the effort week in, week out, the fans react to that.

“And they’ve reacted brilliantly with all these players and the new lads that have come in this season as well.
“Everyone has played a part, so it’s a real team effort, and you’ve got to congratulate the manager and all the coaching staff on that because you can’t do that just as one of you, you’re all in it together.”
Next up, the Whites host Rob Edwards’ Wolves, who sit bottom of the Premier League, at Elland Road on Saturday, with a positive result potentially moving them closer to top-flight survival.
This season, Farke’s side have recorded just two away wins, underlining a clear vulnerability on their travels.
The Yorkshire side still face decisive trips to Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, meaning they may need to significantly raise their level on the road to secure their Premier League status.
