Thiago Silva discusses the rift between Neymar and Mbappé

Former PSG captain Thiago Silva has spoken out for the first time about the tensions between Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. In a recent interview, the Brazilian shared his disappointment over how their relationship has evolved.

He recalls 2017, when Neymar and Mbappé joined Paris almost at the same time:

Mbappé really wanted to come to PSG at the time, even though Neymar was already there. He even asked me to speak to the president.

At first, the two players formed an inseparable duo: "Their chemistry was incredible. They laughed together every day." The eventual fallout took him by surprise:

I didn’t understand why there were tensions. I was no longer at PSG and I don’t know who started the disagreement. It made me sad.

Neymar himself revealed earlier this year that his relationship with Mbappé deteriorated after Lionel Messi arrived in the summer of 2021, a change he attributed to jealousy. Mbappé, for his part, has always expressed his "great respect" for Neymar.
