Thibaut Courtois names the Real Madrid player who has emerged as ‘a leader’ this season | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has this week moved to reveal his appreciation for the new-found leadership qualities being displayed by teammate Kylian Mbappé this season.

Frontman Mbappé is for his part of course in the midst of what has been a spectacular individual campaign to date.

Across 16 appearances in all competitions, the Frenchman has managed to find the net 18 times.

As alluded to above, though, Mbappé’s ongoing excellence does not appear to be restricted simply to his efforts in front of goal.

Speaking during an interview with COPE (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, Thibaut Courtois was drawn on his attacking teammate’s role in the Real Madrid dressing room.

And Los Blancos’ no.1 made use of the opportunity to explain:

“This year, we’re seeing a big increase with Mbappé’s winning mentality. You can tell that he’s a leader. Last season he struggled a bit to adapt to the team and his position, but this year he’s leading us.”
