Leicester City have many legends and players from the past who are fondly looked back on. Stars from decades ago such as late duo Frank Worthington and Keith Weller are two you'll hear about from the more elder statesmen amongst the City support. Those were the Filbert Street days. But no bygone LCFC group is more fabled and loved at King Power Stadium than the 2015/16 Premier League title-winning team. What a bunch of legends they are.
And the observing public and the Blue Army can certainly include most of the 2014/15 EPL 'Great Escape' squad in that collective as not too many signings were made. Now that illustrious City striker Jamie Vardy has announced his departure acter 13 years at the East Midlands Club when the season expires, nobody will remain at LCFC from eleven years ago. It's sad really. And this is most definitely the end of a great era.
Quite a few of those Leicester champions have now retired from professional football. Although many are still playing. Defenders Wes Morgan and Robert Huth hung their boots up a while back. Shinji Okazaki, the Japanese centre forward, is also no longer playing. While Kasper Schmeichel is the Celtic No.1 up in the Scottish Premier League. Riyad Mahrez totally predictably signed with a Saudi Arabian outfit. He's now at Al-Ahli. While former Foxes midfielder Matty James is still very active with Wrexham. He's the subject of this piece.
James will be facing the Foxes again next season. His Red Dragons have been promoted to the English second division for the upcoming campaign, known as the Championship.
"I felt I didn’t deserve to be there, to be pictured. If you ask Danny Drinkwater, when I lifted the Premier League trophy I went to him, he had me in his arms and I was in tears. I was crying my eyes out, purely because I had no part to play in it whatsoever."talkSPORT
