Joe Hart’s goalmouth had broken glass thrown on it at the interval at Ibrox in April 2022

The scenes we witnessed in the aftermath of the dramatic conclusion in the Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox are still very much dominating the headlines, and scenes that could have all been avoided had the Ibrox club and the authorities have done their job correctly.

Forget all the media propaganda that the Celtic supporters were somehow to blame, we all saw what happened and no amount of gaslighting will change the reality.

And remember this isn’t an isolated incident, this has been a melting pot waiting to explode, and it’s all down to the negligence of the police, the football authorities and the Ibrox club itself.

Going back several years, Celtic players, coaching staff and supporters have been subjected to violence and abuse from the Ibrox supporters, but like always it’s been ignored completely by the club, and filed out of sight by the SMSM and the authorities alike in a bid to appease the Ibrox club.

A member of Celtic’s coaching staff hit by a glass at Ibrox in April 2022

It’s well documented that we’ve had a member of staff maimed because of a missile aimed in his direction from the Ibrox home stand, resulting in someone being convicted.

If that wasn’t bad enough, we’ve had to endure players being subjected to harm most notably Joe Hart who had to point out a broken bottle scattered across the penalty area when we visited Ibrox in 2022.

Viljami Sinisalo was hit by an object on his first appearance at Ibrox and in a forthright media conferences listed a long list of items that had been thrown in his direction from the Copeland Road loonies.

Arne Engels is the most recent player to be hit by an object. And don’t forget sex-offending Rangers supporters ran onto the park at Ibrox to confront Scott Brown while Leigh Griffiths was pictured holding the large battery thrown at him at Ibrox. Scotty Sinclair was subjected to racist chants and gestures with the footage caught on Sky TV.

Celtic fans were struck with bottles thrown by the Rangers supporters – there’s photos to prove it and the culprit was caught and dealt with by the courts.  The most recent attack on Celtic supporters took place on Helen Street yesterday and the boy in question is lucky to have survived that serious assault by a gang of Ibrox thugs. Here’s what happened…

All these offences, whilst highlighted were soon swept under the carpet at the behest of keeping all things negative far from the blue side of Glasgow. And remember that Celtic are just as bad, without the proof to back up the statement.

The Celtic fans on the park yesterday weren’t being aggressive, they were to use Martin O’Neill’s word ‘euphoric’. Football does that to you.

Supporters of the 14 year old club, also shamed themselves and the country by storming the pitch and attacking rival supporters at Hampden after a cup final defeat by Hibs in 2016, and yet again, no more than a slap on the wrist with their club falsely claiming that their players had all been punched and spat on by the Hibs supporters and the Rangers fans merely came on to defend their players, That very same narrative is being spun on their forums today.

A Celtic supporter’s head split open after being struck by a buckfast bottle at Ibrox in January 2023

It’s akin to parents turning a blind eye to their unruly kid’s behaviour, blaming everyone else but themselves for a severe lack of discipline. The season ticket renewal date at Ibrox this year has been moved forward for reasons that you can guess, so there will be no scope for the new owners to rock the boat.

The police and the governing bodies have to be seen to be condemning and punishing this type of behaviour, as it’s been ignored all too often, and yesterday we once again saw the consequences. They need to act now, and forget about appeasing one club before someone else gets seriously hurt.

They should also deal with each club separately and that has to be the ongoing policy of these incidents are to be reduced or better still ended.
