Le Havre are closing in on the signing of Thomas Delaine (33), who is expected to join the Normandy club on a free transfer, according to L’Équipe.
Out of contract after a two-season spell at Strasbourg, the experienced left-back is set to sign a two-year deal with Didier Digard’s side. Delaine previously made his mark at Metz, where his attacking intent and consistency down the flank helped the club secure promotion to Ligue 1 in 2019 and retain top-flight status in subsequent campaigns.
Born in Lens, Delaine made 36 appearances across all competitions during his time in Alsace but featured less frequently last season due to injury and competition for places.
Le Havre narrowly avoided relegation last season, after finishing one point ahead of Reims in 15th in Lugue 1. Le Ciel & Marine are aiming to strengthen key areas of the squad ahead of the new season, with Delaine’s arrival set to bring experience and depth to the full-back positions.GFFN | George Boxall
