In the aftermath of England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina, where Tuchel has been heavily criticised for his second half substitutions, talk surrounding his future became a hot topic.

For example, former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was installed by bookmakers, BetVictor, as the favourite to become next England manager were the German to end his reign earlier than expected.

However, Tuchel has made it clear that he will still be in charge of the Three Lions for the European Championships that are being co-hosted by England, Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland in 2028.

"We keep on going with the contract until the home Euros,” Tuchel said in the post-Argentina news conference.

"I'm looking forward to that even though right now it's difficult to look that far ahead."

A thrilling, historic win over Mexico at the Azteca, followed by an extra-time victory against Norway, is understood to have secured the German’s job whatever happened in the last four.

England’s challenging route through the tournament means Tuchel is not expected to face immediate pressure over his future.

Tuchel has already agreed a contract extension through to Euro 2028, and the FA’s intention remains for him to lead England into that tournament unless there is a major collapse.

His deal includes performance-related clauses that could reduce compensation if targets are not met.

Although Tuchel was appointed with the clear objective of delivering England’s first World Cup since 1966, the FA is not expected to base its assessment solely on results.
