Inter Miami claimed their first win of the season with a 4-2 comeback at cross-state rivals Orlando City, overturning a two-goal deficit after the break.
Orlando cut through early to lead 2-0 in the 18th and 24th minutes. Mateo Silvetti struck on 49 minutes, Lionel Messi levelled eight minutes later, and late goals on 85 and 90 completed the turnaround. interheron.com highlights three observations from the match.
The initial 4-2-3-1 lacked rhythm as Orlando bypassed the press. After a fiery half-time, Javier Mascherano moved to a quasi back three, with Micael at left-back and Noah Allen withdrawn for Silvetti. Wider outlets in Allende and Silvetti stretched the flanks, freeing Messi to find space.
German Berterame is yet to score, yet the Mexico international’s graft proved vital when he chased a loose ball and picked out Telasco Segovia for the game-clinching finish.
At 38, Messi showed little sign of slowing, finishing with two goals to open his 2026 tally. Even without Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, he looked to be enjoying himself. For Inter Miami fans, what could be better?
