Manchester United surprised Premier League fans when they announced the sacking of Ruben Amorim as their manager earlier this month.
The Portuguese paid the ultimate price for his stunning outburst against the club’s hierarchy. Enzo Maresca suffered the same fate at Chelsea for similar reasons a few days earlier.
Read on as we look at three other managers who face uncertain futures at their respective clubs.
Nuno Espirito Santo worked wonders at Nottingham Forest, taking them from relegation candidates to Champions League contenders.
However, he has failed to have a similar impact at West Ham United, and the club are losing faith in his ability to save them from relegation.
Defeat against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend could spell the end for Nuno at West Ham, with Slaven Bilic tipped to return if he is fired.
Thomas Frank has failed to live up to expectations since being appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager last summer.
The Lilywhites are languishing 14th in the league standings and have been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions.
Tottenham could progress to the Champions League knockout stage, which would buy Frank some time. However, their form in the Premier League needs to improve.
Burnley are on a 12-game winless run in the Premier League, collecting just three points out of a possible 36.
They are 19th in the league, eight points away from safety. Scott Parker led the Clarets to Premier League promotion, but he doesn’t look capable of keeping them up.
The club’s hierarchy could be forced to sack him if the poor results continue.
