The youngsters in Real Madrid’s squad were expected to be those who would benefit the most from the managerial change in the summer, and Endrick was one of the top names on that list.

After a complicated season under Ancelotti last term, the youngster hoped for more prominence under the new coach but was unfortunately injured for the FIFA Club World Cup and suffered another relapse that then saw him miss the opening phase of the new season.

Endrick returned to the squad for Real Madrid’s game against Espanyol but did not feature on the night, nor did he make an appearance against Levante, Atletico Madrid, or Kairat Almaty. His wait for minutes has opened talk of a potential departure in January – possibly on a loan.

Madrid Universal brings you three reasons why the player should indeed consider a change of scenery.

Upcoming FIFA World Cup

The first, and biggest reason for Endrick to consider moving away from the club is the arrival of the next FIFA World Cup set to be played next year.

As one of Brazil’s biggest talents, Endrick undoubtedly has his eyes set on a spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad and his record for his country at such a young age makes him a strong candidate.

A call-up, however, is seemingly impossible unless he has regular minutes and that does not appear to be a possibility if he stays at Real Madrid.

Endrick has not been called up by Ancelotti for the next international break and it is clear that minutes at the club level are crucial for the manager in aiding his decision. With Alonso seemingly not counting on him, an exit may be his best bet.

Kylian Mbappe’s form

While it is true that Endrick has not seen many minutes this season owing to his injury, the fact of the matter is that the situation would not be too different even had he been fit.

Kylian Mbappe’s form for Los Blancos this term has been nothing short of sensational and it is safe to say that the Frenchman is one of the world’s most potent attacking threats as it stands.

Mbappe’s form means that Alonso counts on him not only as a starter but as a player who stays on the field for the entire 90 minutes. While the players around him rotate, the talisman is a constant presence on the field.

Endrick’s chances of featuring for the Merengues, thus, drop drastically should he opt to stay.

Manager’s preferences

Alonso has remained fairly equal with all players this season and ensured that every member of the team gets their chances. Concurrently, however, it is clear that he does have his own mentally fixed hierarchies.

If what we have seen so far this season is anything to go by, the manager has Gonzalo Garcia higher up his pecking order compared to Endrick, meaning that the few minutes when Mbappe is rested are also likely to go to the Spaniard.

Further, one cannot question the coach’s stance because Garcia has indeed stepped up when asked of him and his four goals in the FIFA Club World Cup earned him that spot deservedly.

With Garcia earning Alonso’s trust, Endrick may indeed be better off looking for a new home, at least on loan.
